¹⁶ Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 NKJV

The path we have chosen to take in life is one that is less taken. Not too many people choose to follow Christ down the narrow path to life in God’s kingdom. Why is that? Well, as Paul said, the faithful believer is hard-pressed on every side. This path is a difficult one to be taken as we have many trials and tribulation.

Paul said that our outward man (our flesh) is always perishing as we suffer. Yet, scripture always encourages the believer not to lose heart- don’t you lose hope. What should dwell in the heart of the faithful is hope. Our hope is built on Christ and that is a foundation that will not crumble. God doesn’t want you to be disheartened. We know this because our inward man is always renewed by the Spirit.

While this journey is trying, Paul tells us that our affliction today is but for a moment. The trials and tribulations of today will pass away. What awaits is a far more exceeding weight of glory for everlasting life. There is no comparison between everlasting life than this speck of time we have in this world. So, don’t you lose hope no matter what. There is a great reward waiting for you.
