Don’t Waste What God Has Given You | Prov. 18:9

9 He who is slothful in his work Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.
Proverbs 18:9 NKJV
I preach really hard. I go and film videos, which most never crack over a hundred views. I recorded studies and lessons which, again, had very few views. Yet, I push forward in doing this work, trying must be to improve what I share, in the hopes, that those who do read, watch, or listen, will be touched in their Spirit. Why do I go so hard in my service to the Lord? If you’ve gone through what God has brought me through, you would do the same!
Surely the Lord has brought you through something in your life. We should do as much as we can to show our gratitude and thanksgiving. James said that faith without works is dead. These are thoughts that put me in mind of the man who received 1 talent from his master, but he chose to do nothing with it. That man was slothful – lazy and apprehensive – in his works. The lazy person is a brother to one who intentionally destroys .
Nothing gets done when one is lazy in their work. Who does it benefit when we are a lazy Christian? Nobody. God has given all of us our pouches of talents to do something with. The last thing we ought to do is bury what God has given to us. In other words, you ought not to waste what God has given to you to use. The child of God is supposed to bear good fruit that can give and sustain life. When we aren’t moving in faith, we aren’t bearing that life giving and sustaining fruit.
So, when opportunities present themselves to you to bear fruit, don’t be sluggish and lazy about it. Put your heart and soul into that which you do. And in that which you do, make sure you do it in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to the Father (Col. 3:17).
