Food For Thought

66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. 67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” 68 But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

John 6:66-68 NKJV

Are you a crowd follower? Jesus had great multitudes that would follow Him nearly everywhere He went. Some followed Jesus for the teaching while others followed Jesus for the miracles. On one occasion, some followed Jesus because He had fed them with a few pieces of fish and bread. Let me this say: if you’re going to follow someone, know why and who you are following.

Jesus had said to those that were following Him for food, “I am the bread of life”. Jesus told them that anyone who eats His bread will never hunger or perish. To explain further, He told that His bread was His flesh. As soon as this was said, many turned from Jesus. You see, they were thinking with a worldly mind and didn’t understand they were to consume His word.

The crowd left Jesus and just the faithful few remained. We live in the world today where the crowd still doesn’t follow Jesus. In fact, the crowd speaks against follow Jesus and mocks those that do. Do you follow the crowd so that you can be in with the crowd? I remind you today that the narrow path that most people refuse is the one that leads to life.

I am not ashamed to follow Christ.
