Elevate Yourself by Avoiding Foolish Company | Prov. 22:24-25

24 Make no friendship with an angry man, And with a furious man do not go, 25 Lest you learn his ways And set a snare for your soul.
Proverbs 22:24-25 NKJV
So many have hindered themselves because they were unable to discern the wise from the fool. I don’t want you to think that I am demeaning anyone or calling anyone names. Proverbs defines the wise as being one who fears the Lord and seeks to please Him. Proverbs defines the fool as one who despises instruction, therefor despises God as He has given mankind His instructions to abide by.
If one wants to go in the way of the wise, Proverbs 1:5 encourages us to surround ourselves with wise counsel. Scripture repeatedly encourages us not to follow in the path of the fool because of its destructive conclusion. Yet, so many continue to make friends with those whose path is destructive. I feel that this proverb, and its warning, needs to be read repeatedly today.
If you should choose to make friends with an angry man, furious man, an unwise man, what good do you think will come your way? Seriously, I feel you must think this over! The fruits of the Spirit are certainly not anger and wrath! The fruits of the Spirit is certainly not foolishness and wickedness. You must understand that such a person is vacant of the Holy Spirit – there is no good inside of them, and therefore, no good will come from them!
The only thing that will pour out of such people will be which is unwise and unhealthy for the soul. So many have done serious damage to their soul because they couldn’t discern that one was not of the Spirit. As a child of God, we must be wiser so that we don’t fall victim to the path of the fool. To become wiser, we must heed the voice of the Spirit. When you heed the voice of the Spirit, He will lift you up to higher heights – to your blessings.
