Food For Thought

16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

James 3:16-17 NKJV

I think that many of us are humble enough to not think ourselves to be so wise, right? While, on the other hands, some can’t stop bragging about nobody being wiser than them. The truth of the matter is that we have all learned quite a few things in our life, right? Many of us develop principles (morals) that we define the actions that we will take. Do you know what principles define you?

We must evaluate from where our principles have come from. Why do I say this? Because there are many that say they believe in the Lord but the principles they live by are far from God. How can I say this? Well, God has laid out what his principles are for us. God is love. in His love, God is faithful. James points this out for us as well. James points out that wisdom from God is first without corruption, then peaceable, gentle, and considerate.

In wisdom that is from above, there is no confusion and no strife. Wisdom that is from below (earthly) is envious, self-seeking, creates confusion and every evil thing. We have to be careful about adopting such a principle because if you’re creating strife and confusion, you’re not working from the wisdom of above. No, you’re working from wisdom that is definitely from below.
