Evil Is No Match for the Almighty
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
As a child of God, why should you ever fear what the wicked can do against you?

Today’s devotional reading: Nahum 1:2-8
Who or what is there that can prevail against the Lord? There is no authority that is higher than the Lord. When God swears, since there is no one higher than Him, He has to swear to Himself (Heb. 6:13-14).
Many try to put the devil on equal footing with the Lord, but since when has the thing made been on equal footing with its maker? The devil is no different from mankind in that he, along with the angels and heavenly creatures, was made by God. As God said through the prophet Isaiah, one has things turned around if they believe that they, being like clay, can be esteemed as the potter (Is. 29:15-16).
God is an overwhelming force that no man, woman, boy, girl, or heavenly being can prevail against. Keep in mind, Satan tried to go to war with the Lord, and he and his angels fell. The Lord defeated him and his evil further by giving His only begotten Son. Ultimately, evil will be swiftly crushed in its last stance, and the devil and wickedness will be cast away from God for everlasting life (Rev. 19-20).
So, if not even heavenly beings that tried to rebel against but could not prevail, what do you think we mortal beings, flesh and blood, can do against God? This is why we who are of faith ought never to fear the wicked ones of this world: God is our refuge. How can man prevail against us when we are protected in the fortress that is the Lord?
