Follow Christ’s Guidance for Lasting Prosperity | John 21:5-6

5 Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.” 6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
John 21:5-6 NKJV
Before I even jump in today’s food for thought, I want to make something clear about when I speak about prosperity. I am a doctrinal preacher – when I speak of prosperity, I am not speaking about worldly prosperity but spiritual prosperity. Spiritual prosperity is prosperity of the soul.
With that said, many of us are lacking in spiritual prosperity today because we’re too focused on worldly prosperity. Many of us are focusing on doing our own thing or by heeding the guidance of those who are “wise” in the way of gaining worldly prosperity. The disciples set an example I want to use today of those who are out at sea fishing for great wealth. These men were expert fishermen that knew a thing or two about going out to sea and catching sea.
However, on this occasion, the fish weren’t biting. Then, there as one who they couldn’t recognize along the shore guided them in what they needed to do to catch some fish. When they heeded His voice, we’re told that they couldn’t draw their nets in because of how much fish they had caught. David sang a psalm saying how the Lord caused his cup to overflow.
Christ will prosper your soul to the point that even on your worst day, you will still be filled with the joy that will bring a smile to your face. There is nothing in the world better than the lasting joy and peace that Christ gives us. Yet, you must heed His guidance to be filled with His peace and joy. If you continue doing your own thing, ignoring His guidance, you will only find emptiness – no joy.
True prosperity isn’t something that is built on worldly riches. True prosperity isn’t something that has to be replenished with grueling hard work and effort. True prosperity is free to those who heed the voice of the Lord.
