Food For Thought

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

On a day like today, I feel that this is a scripture that must be shared.  Scripture often encourages us not to be anxious – to worry or to panic about things.  Yet, no matter how often we are encouraged not to do those things, we can’t seem to help our nature.  Yes, it is part of our nature to worry and to panic about things.

I believe that a lot of times we worry, not because of fear, but because of our hope and desire for things to work outIf you’re hoping for the best and you’re worried about future days, let’s try to point that hope in a better direction.  You see, if you’re hoping for the best but it’s causing you to panic about something going wrong, God wants you to put all of your hope in Him. Let’s stop hoping but then panicking about “what ifs”.

Why should we be putting all our hope in Him?  Because God will return back to you peace of mind.  As Paul said, God’s peace surpasses all understanding— His understanding surpasses everything.  What we must remember is that God is in control!  God sits high and He looks like.  God guards our hearts and minds – that is to say that He guards our soul.

So, no matter what the machinations are of man, no matter what goes on in life, let’s remember that we are protected and that God is in control.
