God is the Keeper of Your Soul | Ps. 91:9-11
August 2, 2024
9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
Psalm 91:9-11 NKJV
There is safety and protection when you choose to be in the care of the Lord. I feel the need to share this psalm with you today because there is so much going on in the world today. I often think about not just what I go through but what my loved ones go through and then all of those around me as well. Then, I consider all of the threats and the dangers, and the ongoing suffering in the world – Satan is at work.
Yet, I am filled with the confidence to tell you that everything will be OK. This is a thought that makes me think of Job and all that he went through. The thought of Job led me to this wonderful psalm of David. David sang that in the care of God, there is nothing that can prevail against you – no evil, no plague – nothing! Yes, we have our trials, our tribulations, our afflictions but in all those things, our soul won’t be harmed!
David sang that God has given His angels charge over us, to keep us in all our ways! Satan tried to use this very psalm against Jesus in his temptation of Christ but we use it today because there’s so much power in it! Satan tried Job but the Lord would not permit him to harm Job’s soul! There is hedge – a fence and shield – that surrounds you and nothing can penetrate it!
To know that God is my keeper, it fills me with the confidence to know that we are going to make it, no matter what. My hope is that you will move to make God your refuse. Then my hope is for you to move forward in the safety and care of God. You will make it through anything!
