“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Matthew 7:7-8 NKJV

A question that I often pose to all of you is this: What do you desire from the Lord? I want you to genuinely give this question some consideration today. You see, we enter into the new year and many of us are doing what we do every year – make plans for what we hope to accomplish and get out of the year. With that said, what is that you desire? Many say that they are going to make changes for the better. The desire for many is to, as always, make a bunch of money and get rich.

Jesus, in this scripture, was speaking to those who sought more than what the world can offer. Jesus said that if you ask, what you desire will be given to you. Jesus said that if you seek, you will find. Jesus then said that if you knock, it will be opened to you. Let’s be clear that Jesus was speaking to those seeking the Lord and His riches; He was not talking about seeking for and asking God for the riches of this world. Jesus said that doors will be open to you and it will be God that opens those doors for you, but let’s be clear, those doors are not going to open to the riches of the world.

God desires for us to come to Him so that He can open doors in our life that will ultimately lead to our contentment. Isn’t that what we desire from the Lord? To be satisfied in our soul? If you have been left unsatisfied in your heart year after year while grinding and hustle from satisfaction from the world, may I suggest you seek for the Lord? If you seek for Him, you will easily find Him. When you find the Lord, He won’t be empty handed – He will have exactly what you need.
