¹⁴ So Lot went out and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, “Get up, get out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city!” But to his sons-in-law he seemed to be joking.

Genesis 19:14 NKJV

Lot had received a warning from two angels of the Lord that they were going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot was told to get himself and whomever he had in the city out. So, this warning was a very serious warning, wasn’t it? Yet, when Lot told his son-in-laws, they thought it was a joke.

Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed. Only Lot and his daughters made it out alive because they did as instructed. His son-in-laws perished in the destruction. His wife perished because she looked back and disobeyed the angels’ insturctions. His wife and son-in-laws could have been saved if only they heeded the warning of the angels.

I share this thought today because God has a warning for all of us today. His warning is that the kingdom is at hand. God is going to judge and determine who enter His kingdom or not. This warning is no laughing matter as nobody should want to face destruction. Do we have to be destroyed? Absolutely not. No, there is hope! Our hope is in His instructions and all we have to do is heed His word.

So, don’t take the Lord, His word and warning as a joke. Take God’s word and warning with the utmost seriousness.
