Food For Thought

10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:10-11 NKJV

The angel said that the good news of great joy wasn’t just for the shepherds in the land of Judea.  The good news of great joy wasn’t just for one nation of people.  No, the angel made it very clear that the good news of great joy was for all people to know and hear.  Christ is the joy that was given to all people.

What a beautiful picture that scripture paints of God and His love.  The Lord doesn’t fall into the same trappings that we, mankind, fall into over foolish divisions based on race, nationality, creed, etc.  I love the Lord for this— for loving me, especially, when the world often turns against people like me over nonsense reasons.  I love the Lord for the opportunity He has given not just for me to prosper but for all of you and we don’t have to jump through so many hoops to do so.

So, why do we often make each other jump through so many hoops to prosper?  Why do we make life even more difficult for one another?  God put all of us in this world to live together, to love one another, and to help each other prosper.  God didn’t put us in this world to hate each other over petty differences.

Joy is meant for all people and not just for one group or one nationality of people.  Joy is meant to be shared with all people.  So, on the one day of the year where we should be celebrating God’s love, let it also be a reminder to us to move in true and sincere love every day of our life.
