Happily Testify to God’s Goodness
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
When God has been good to you, why would you begrudgingly testify of His works?

Today’s devotional reading: Psalm 40:1-10
Praising God should be on the tip of your tongues, and should boil over from your heart. David sang, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth (Ps. 34:1). In most of his songs, David could not stop singing about how good God had been to him. He remembered the days when he was just a lowly shepherd boy, and the days when there was nothing special about his family. In his rememberance, he recognized how wonderfully the Lord had been towards him.
Do you recall where God has brought you from? Too often, we get hung up on present circumstances, and we permit the tribulations of the day to blind us from God’s goodness. One of the devil’s oldest tactics is to use tribulation to blind one from the truth that God is still good even in the midst of our sorrows. The devil will use tribulation to blind you from the truth that God is going to deliver you again.
God has been good to us and has brought us an incredibly long way. As David sang, the Lord brought us out of a horrible pit, set our feet upon a rock, and put a new song in our mouths. We should happily sing praises, testifying to all that the Lord has done for us. As it is said in Hebrews 13:15, the sacrifice of praise to God is the fruit of our lips.
When you sing praises, testifying to the goodness of God, it brings forth a fruit for others to give a taste. There are many who will see that God has been good to you and will want to see if He will do the same for them. This is the service that pleases the Lord: When we help to draw one closer to be with Him. So, don’t you keep your testimony to yourself! Happily share your testimony with others so that they may know that God is good, and taste and see for themselves.
