Have We Gone Astray in What We Glory | Jer. 9:23-24
July 12, 2024
23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 24 But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 NKJV
It honestly amazes me just how prideful we can be. What is it that we are proud of today. I guess the biggest thing we glory in is our technological advances. We have cars and airplanes that can take us anywhere in the world. We have the internet that connects us to the other side of the world in an instant. Medicine is the best it has ever been as we have cures to diseases thought not to be curable.
Yet, in all these advances, we’re still stuck in the same outlandish matters of people not being hated because of their skin color or how they dressed. In all of our advances, we still block and hold each other back over silly prejudices. So, how can we be prideful about anything when all we do, as a people, is keep up a bunch of mess?
So, as the Lord said through Jeremiah, if you’re going to glory in anything or anybody, let it be the Lord. Let us come to glorify in coming to know the one who created us and saved us. Let us glory in the one who lifts us up when we inevitable fall down. Glory in the one who is holy and divine and never fails. Let God be your boast.
