His Life Is Evidence of God’s Patient Love | Is. 7:14

13 Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14 NKJV
When Paul defined what love is to the Corinthian (1 Cor. 13:4-8), he did it by looking to God. To sum up what Paul defined, Paul defined love as faithfulness, commitment, and a helping hand. God is faithful. God is committed to you. God has and will continue to help you on your journey. The Lord has promised to never leave nor to ever forsake us. Even in our sin, God promises to never leave nor forsake those who love Him.
If you ever think that God has abandoned you, I want to remind you of Isaiah’s prophecy about the virgin’s birth. Isaiah’s prophecy of Mary giving birth to Christ came at a time when Judah was living in great sin. The question was essentially, “Do you think you can tire out God [because of your sin]?” With men, the prophet said that its easy to get folks to give up on you because of your wrongdoing. Yet, with God, the prophet spoke to how God was still with Judah and proof would be shown when the virgin conceives and gives birth to the Messiah.
Yes, another prophecy of Christ’s birth was fulfilled, but again, it shows us more proof of God’s love. This time around, we see that Jesus is proof of God’s patient love – proof of God’s mercy. When you think that God has grown tired of ‘your mess’, just remember Christ as proof that God is still with you and He still loves you.
What we celebrate in this season of celebrating Jesus’ birth is the fact that God truly is still with us and has not abandoned us to our sin, and to the sin of the world. We should certainly be giving thanks to God for His mercy and grace.
