Food For Thought

Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance. Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you—
The sure mercies of David.

Isaiah 55:2-3 NKJV

Many spend all their days trying to delight their souls only to end up leaving their soul in dismay of vain riches. As Solomon said, many are trying to grasp the wind with their hands only to find it’s impossible to do. The Lord has no desire for your soul to be in dismay!

God asked, “why do you spend money on what is not bread?” He asked, “why your wages on what does not satisfy (make you content)?” This is the conundrum for mankind because many would say that money, their wages, can make them happy. Yet, the Creator said those things don’t come close to satisfying the heart. Who is right and who is wrong?

I much rather put my trust in the words of God rather than the basic principles of the world. This is how to delight your soul: incline your ear to God. Be attentive to God’s every word. When we consume His every word, our soul will delight itself and we will come to life. Rather than try to delight yourself in the world, I encourage you to delight yourself in the Lord!
