Food For Thought

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV

Every year on my dad’s birthday, I share his favorite verse. Let me tell you, if there is a verse in the bible that fit him, it’s this verse!

Paul wrote his second letter to Timothy during his third arrest recordedin the bible. Honestly, there is no telling how many times Paul may have been arrested. Paul’s third imprisonment ended with his execution. With these facts known, it makes his words here even more powerful.

Paul had gone through some things in his life that would have caused many to turn away from God. Yet, in all he went through, Paul said he was not embarrassed. When it came to his faith, Paul was unapologetic as he would let anybody know his love for the Lord. My dad was that way. When I would feel embarrassed by him being loud about his faith, my dad was a proud believer.

I feel we could use a lot of proud sincere faith in the world today. I say this because sincere faith is so often misrepresented by religion. Yet, if we would choose to be unapologetic in our stance of true faith and love, so many people would benefit. In fact, if true faith was on display as it should be, so many people would be encouraged to walk with the Lord.
