Is Your Faith Rooted in Grace? | Col. 2:6-7
February 18, 2025
6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV
Do you know what faith is? I think you’re probably answering to yourself, ‘well faith is believing’. Now, if you know me, you should know that answer is not enough for me. Yes, Hebrews 11:1, tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. However, Paul points out that faith should walk in Jesus. To be clear, this means faith is an action that moves and follows Jesus’ way.
What is the way of Jesus? The way of Jesus is grace and mercy, right? Jesus moved with love in His heart as He uplifted all people in their heart. The question that you have to answer today is whether or not you move in that same manner of Christ? Is your faith rooted in grace? Paul added on that we should abound in our faith with thanksgiving. Do you move with appreciation for all that God has done for you?
I believe that we as God’s children have to consider whether or not our faith is actively moving in this manner? Honestly, many of us will say that we have faith but our faith sits still and does nothing. Many of us don’t move with thanksgiving. Many of us don’t move in grace. If we aren’t moving in such a manner, how can we ever say that we ‘have’ faith?
For that matter, how can we even say that we walk with Christ? I want you to consider what faith is and whether or not your faith is true. Honestly, I believe that all of us can always work to improve our faith and grow in it.
