Food For Thought

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God … 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

2 John 9-11 NKJV

There is a spirit moving in unity today that moves against the preachings of Christ and works to sow discord. In the sowing of discord, this spirit desires for us to accept its preaching. John didn’t hide what kind of spirit this is as he said plainly, it is antichrist (2 John 7). The spirit of antichrist does not confess Jesus Christ, meaning, it stands in opposition of Christ, His way, and His preaching. Jesus’ preaching was about moving with grace, love, and being united in harmony to prosper each other.

I won’t hide the fact that the spirit of antichrist is moving in plain sight and it’s attacking what we believe. It is not fine to lie. It is not fine to bear false witness. It is not fine to be apathetic about the plight of others. It is not fine to take pleasure in the hurting, harming, and suffering of others. There is a spirit that is actively trying to normalize such treatment of others and we should never normalize such conduct.

I love what John said in this scripture as he said that one who opens the door and welcomes such doctrine shares in the deeds of the wicked. Let’s be clear, many have said that they believe in Christ, but they are walking with the spirit of antichrist. Yes, they have repeatedly welcomed the spirit of antichrist into their home – that is to say they have welcome that spirit into their soul. The spirit of antichrsit and the Holy Spirit cannot abide together as they are contrary to each other.

As John wrote in 2 John 8, we need to look to ourselves and protect ourselves, so as not to join into the sin of the spirit of antichrist. We must abide in the word, and we must keep each other in the word and in truth so as not be led astray.
