Food For Thought

25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” 26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” 27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” 28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

Matthew 15:25-28 NKJV

If there is anything you learn from a good mom growing up is that there’s nothing that can stop them from helping their children. There is no hurdle that they won’t jump over nor no hill or mountain they won’t climb. There is a determination they have which we should hopefully learn from them day after day.

With that in mind, I share scripture with you today of the gentile mom that desperately sought help for her daughter. Her daughter was possessed by a demon and so she went to the miracle worker. Jesus tested her faith and determination by putting a hurdle before her. Many of us would have turned away after the words Jesus shared but this mom did not. She knew that Jesus was her help and insisted, no matter what, that Jesus help her.

Life throws many unfair obstacles our way, doesn’t it? Should we throw our hands in the air and give up? Absolutely not. Hurdles are meant to be jumped over. We should jump over those hurdles. To absolutely clear the hurdles before us we must be determined. Not only that, we must know exactly who our help is so that no matter what, we remain determined. Determined faith is the faith that ultimately receives the blessing and reward.
