Food For Thought

11 Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. 12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. 13 For great is Your mercy toward me, and You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.

Psalm 86:11-13 NKJV

When God has blessed and done good to you, your heart should be moved to praise Him. And I want to be perfectly clear about this: God has blessed and done for every single one of us! Again, let me be clear, God’s blessings has not bypassed anybody! So, yes, every single one of us ought to be praising His name for how He has kept us in all of our trials and tribulations. Yes, you should be praising God for all He has done for you!

Oftentimes, when we think about praising the Lord, we think about praising Him with our voice, our with the clapping of our hands, or the stomping of our feet. Some of us will start speaking in tongue, jumping up and down, and dancing all over the place. There is nothing wrong with doing that should this praise be sincere and not for show.

However, I love what else David spoke about in this psalm about praising the Lord forevermore. David was a dancing, jumping, and shouting out loud praise of the Lord but notice what he said first. David said, “Teach me Your way, O Lord.” The David said, “I will walk in Your truth.” I feel like many of us forget that we also praise the Lord through our manner of walk. That is to say that we give God praise also in how we go about living in our day to day life.

If God has blessed and done good to you, this ought to be a prayer and a desire of yours! You ought to desire to know His way so that you can live for Him and praise Him even more! So, I encourage you to pray this prayer today so that praise can be both in your mouth and in your heart.
