Food For Thought

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 10:10 NKJV

Who is the thief that comes only to steal, to kill, and to destroy?  Immediately, we will think about Satan, won’t we?  He’s certainly a thief – no doubt about that.  Other thieves are those that attempt to rob from God by hurting, harming, hindering and misleading His children.  Another thief that we don’t often consider can be ourselves.  How so?

Well, Jesus said that He came so that His flock may have life more abundantly.  What does this mean?  To have life more abundantly speaks the joy of life.  To have life more abundantly speaks about God’s blessings that can make us content.  To have life more abundantly speaks to having contentment – peace of mind— rest from all those things that burden us in our soul.

You see, we fail to realize that we can rob ourselves by doubting and hesitating to move by faith.  We rob ourselves even more when we choose to heed the words of thieves that do not want us to prosper.  God desires for you to be fruitful and multiply and He will make it happen if you turn to Him.

Our God is a God of abundance and will cause your cut to run over!  So, let us remember that we are invited to cast our cares upon Christ and He will give us rest.  Let us not turn down such a wonderful invitation and robbing ourselves of abundant life.
