Love and Unity: The Hope and Call of God
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
God did not make us in His image and likeness to despise one another.

Today’s devotional reading: Ephesians 4:1-6
The overarching theme of the bible is love. Nothing showcases love as the overarching theme in scripture more than God giving the world His only begotten Son. In the giving of Christ, we see where God, in three persons, moving together as one. Christ was obedient to the will of the Father so that the world, through Him, might be saved (John 3:17). The Holy Spirit glorifies the Son by declaring what is of Christ to all who believe (John 16:13-14).
When God made mankind, He did so with the hope that man would unite together and prosper. After giving the world His only begotten Son, that hope still remains. Will this world ever unite together under one holy and righteous cause? Sin and the sinner are too embedded in the fabric of the world for that to be possible. Yet, the hope of love and unity has not faded from the Lord.
Through the teachings of Christ, Paul revealed that we are God’s hope. If anyone should understand the importance of love and unity, it ought to be those who are saved by God’s grace. By heeding the Holy Spirit, we can come together as our hands work together with our eyes, and our eyes with our feet (1 Cor. 12:20-26).
