Make Consideration Your Default Attitude | Matt. 7:12
February 27, 2025
12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 7:12 NKJV
Honestly, I feel like some thing that I should never have to preach about or remind others of is about our conduct. When were kids, we were to share, right? We were taught to make friends. We were taught to be considerate of each other. We were taught the “golden rule” – treat others the way that you want to be treated. What happened to those teachings?
Why does it seem like we were never taught those things or didn’t listen to the teaching? I guess it’s because it seems most folks only look out for self rather than consider others. We spend our days mocking each others and being tearing each other down. Ever since my journey through dialysis, I’ve become more considerate of the fact that everybody is fighting their own battles. Some of us are sick, shut-in, or have a disability. Some of us are hurting on the inside, battling demons, etc.
Yet, the way we treat each other is like we give no thought to what others are dealing with. Then, it seems we only care if the one we mocked suffered tragedy. We have enough to deal with in trying to live life but to then have to deal with those who don’t care about what we’re going through is taxing. We shouldn’t treat each other like this – we have to do better!
So, I challenge you today to make consideration of the plight of others as your default mindset. As we were taught in nursery school – treat others the way you want to be treated.
