² Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

3 John 2 NKJV

In his third epistle, John wrote to three individuals with the first one being one named Gaius who was a very dear friend to the apostle. What I love about this greeting, and prayer for Gaius from John is that we clearly see the love that he had for his friend. Some of you who may read today’s thought, I might now you personally and I imagine that many more who I do not know may come across this thought. Whether I know you or not, I would like for John’s prayer to be a prayer to carry us through this new year.

In this prayer, John prayed that Gaius prosper in all things, whether it was in his physical, mental, emotional, spiritual health in his soul, or even in his finances, John prayed that he prosper. I certainly pray that you prosper in all things as well. I will diligently pray that there is continued growth in all of us and that no matter what we face throughout the year, the Lord keep us uplifted, encouraged, and motivated.

I truly believe that the Lord will keep and that the Lord will bless us mightily. So, again, I encourage you – be steadfast in your faith and keep pushing forward.
