The Cost of Neglecting God’s Voice for Earthly Counsel | John 3:31-32
April 25, 2025
31 He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony.
John 3:31-32 NKJV
Something that will never make any sense to me is why we would dare choose to ignore God’s counsel for the counsel of man. To me, it is rather foolish to heed the voice of man over the voice of God. Yet, we’re living in a day where worldly gospel is received, but the gospel of the righteous is ignored. Churches are even being packed today for a worldly gospel rather than the gospel of the righteous. We’re treading upon dangerous grounds today, I believe.
What does the worldly gospel have that the gospel of the righteous doesn’t have? Well, as John the Baptist tells us, the Righteous One came from above to testify of the things from above, not of this world. Jesus said that in His Father’s house there are many mansions. Jesus revealed that in His Father’s kingdom, there will be no grief or sorrow. Jesus preached that by faith, all are able to overcome the wickedness of this day and sin itself.
The worldly gospel can tell us how to make a buck, I suppose. Yet, what’s the worldly gospel got to say when one choose to wage war on money? What’s the worldly gospel got to say when one robs from the poor and gives to the rich? What’s the worldly gospel got to say when one is weighed down in sorrow and despair? What’s the worldly gosple tell one to do to find everlasting joy?
The revelation of today has shown us just how temporary worldly happiness is and why one ought to be searching for more than what the world can give. If you desire more than what the world can give, I encourage you to look to the message of the one who came from above.
