Now is the Time to Speak Up | 1 Pet. 2:9-10
March 17, 2025
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
1 Peter 2:9-10 NKJV
When is the last time that you shared what you have gone through and overcome with somebody? I feel like when I was growing up, all I ever used to hear from those older than me was what God had brought them through. For example, I think about how my dad could never shut up about what God had done for him. We could go to a baseball game or be at the barbershop and that man was going to tell somebody about God and how God had blessed him.
We just don’t do enough of that nowadays. Is it because we are afraid? Is it because we don’t want to look crazy? What is it? Why aren’t we, as a generation of ‘believers’ telling people what God has done for us? I can’t go too many sermons, lessons, or studies without mentioning how God kept me and delivered me during my five years of dialysis. Every last one of us have a testimony to share and now is the time to speak up.
The reason why now is the time to speak up is because more and more doubters, mockers, and scoffers of faith are being born in the world. Yes, the doubter, mocker, and scoffer is growing in number and you better believe they aren’t afraid to speak against God and scripture. The scoffer doesn’t believe in scripture. Yes, it is good for us to know scripture and certainly good to preach it as well. However, do you realize that your testimony is just as powerful?
Some of us aren’t able to quote scripture word by word. However, one thing I know to be true is that we can certainly tell somebody about what God has done for us. One thing I know to be true is that God has done something for you. So, I encourage you tell your story! You have a story and the world needs to know it!
