Food For Thought

20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”

Luke 17:20-21 NKJV

The religious leaders were looking for the Messiah but they couldn’t recognize Him even though He standing before them. They looking for Christ to come like a wordly king. When the President comes to town, it’s always all over the news, isn’t it? There is a lot pomp and circumstance when someone like the Pope travels about. The religious leaders were looking for the pomp and circumstance, a king with bravado.

Jesus, as we know, was born in a manger. Jesus was lowly. The kingdom of God was in their midst but they were rejecting Him. Even today, I tell you, the kingdom of God is at hand and it still goes unnoticed. Why is that? Because so many are absorbed in the world rather than the holy and righteous truth. Yes, there are many who are blind to the kingdom of God because they are hung up on their lusts and consumption of the world.

You don’t want to go blind to Christ because you are hung up on something that can’t help your soul. Jesus was given to the world to help heal the broken and wounded soul. Jesus was given to the world to give life to the soul that was dead in sin. We must not miss Christ today because we are too focused on what is unhealthy for the soul. To see Christ, we must open our hearts to the Lord rather than to the world.
