Peace Be Still, God Is at the Helm | Ps. 93:3-5
September 27, 2024
3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.
Psalm 93:3-5 NKJV
4 The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, than the mighty waves of the sea. 5 Your testimonies are very sure; Holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever.
Something I feel that we must repeatedly be reminded is that God is with us. Not only is God with us but God is in control. No matter what it is that we might face and go through in life, we must remember that God is at the helm. For whatever reason, we seem to forget these two things when the storms in our life pick up and seem to pose a threat.
There was a time when the disciples were literally on a boat with Jesus but were in full on panic mode about a storm they were in. Jesus woke up and said to the storm, “Peace, be still,” and the storm calmed down. As much as we always see Jesus saying peace be still to the storm, I believe He was always saying that to the disciples as well. Jesus asked them, “why are you so fearful (Mark 4:39-40)?”
Jesus had to show the disciples the power God has over the storm. As the psalmist said, God is mightier than any storm you will face in life. God has shown you that power in your life as we have all faced our own personal storms. You’re still standing, aren’t you? So, I say to you today, “Peace, be still”. God is a rock and He will keep you uplifted.
