Responding to God with Wholehearted Praise

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

You should praise God today because He is certainly worthy of your praise.

Today’s devotional reading: Psalm 145:1-3, 21

I feel like praising God today. What about you? You should praise the Lord for all that He has done for you, and on top of that, you should praise Him for what He is about to do for you.

Yet, praising God is difficult for many today, as many of us feel bogged down by today’s stress and worry. Many won’t praise God today because they are without work. Many won’t praise God today because they’re struggling to pay bills and put food on the table. Yet, we must not let today’s worry separate us from the love of God, as it does not have the power to do such, unless you give stress and worry the power to do so.

You should understand that God is always moving on your behalf, in both good and bad times. God’s thoughts towards you are not evil; His desire is not for you to toil in sorrow. As Paul told the Corinthian believers, your affliction is but for a moment, as the Lord is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory (2 Cor. 4:17).

You weep today, but your joy is certainly coming (Ps. 30:5). Go ahead and claim the blessing that is waiting for you on the other side of today’s stress and worry. God has already given you the victory, you’re just making your way to that victory. Praise the Lord! Give Him all of your praise because He is lifting you over today’s problems.
