Salvation Cannot Be Bought | Psalm 49:6-9

Read This Passage: Acts 11:1-18

Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches, None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him— For the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever— That he should continue to live eternally, and not see the Pit.

Psalm 49:6-9 NKJV

No matter how many riches you gain in the world, you cannot purchase salvation like something off a shelf in the store. Salvation, as the psalmist says, is costly but it is so costly that nobody in this world can afford it. Why is salvation so costly? Salvation is costly because the Father gave His only begotten Son so that we can be delivered from the punishment of sin. Jesus, you must remember, gave His like physically for us, but He also suffered God’s wrath, spiritually, for us.

The only way that one can gain salvation is through faith in the work that Christ has done for us. That being said, faith has proven to be rather difficult for many people. You see, it is easier for for more people to labor for the riches of the world than to live according to the will of God. You see, in order to live by faith, one must choose to follow in the way of Christ; this calls for us to live in obedience to the will of God.

Sadly, there are many that believe that their desires are better than God’s desires, and they end up losing their soul over the riches of this world. As Jesus asked, “what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?” I leave you with this to consider: What are you going to do with those riches when you stand before the Lord and God doesn’t want them?
