Food For Thought

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:4 NKJV

Continuing from my previous thought, many of us have shackled ourselves to the weight of error. Satan is winning a lot of spiritual battles in the heart of believers, because so many of us are afraid to move. What is faith without error? If we were perfect, we wouldn’t need faith. If we were perfect, we wouldn’t need Christ. Does that make sense to you?

Yet, we know that we need Christ, don’t we? Why do we need Him? Yes, so that we can have everlasting life in the heavenly kingdom, but why else? I would tell you that I need Christ so that I can live and make it in this world. As you have heard me say before, this world is constantly testing us. Yet, we must keep moving forward, right? God looks for us to move forward – to do something! God doesn’t necessarily want us to be so worried about whether we are making a mistake or if a decision will lead to failure.

I love what we see Paul say here in this verse. Paul spoke about how we as sincere followers of Christ are partakers of the life of Christ. As partakers of Christ, we share in with what Christ had to endure. Not only do we share in with what Christ had to endure, but we also share in with His victory. So, because Christ has overcome, that means that we have overcome the same sufferings, temptations, and penalty of sin.

The mindset we ought to live with today is the mindset of one who has the victory. If you know that victory is yours, why would you worry about setbacks? The blessing is already yours, one way or the others, you’re going to receive it. This is the mindset to live with. Don’t live with a mindset where sin, the worry of defeat, is holding you hostage! You’re already a victor.
