Food For Thought

20 Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. 21 And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

Daniel 2:20-21 NKJV

Every time we look around, something is changing! Change is inevitable, right? Why do we worry? I suppose we worry because tomorrow is always out of our control. Yes, in all of our planning for tomorrow, we still don’t know what tomorrow will bring. So, we worry about tomorrow and some of us get anxious about what tomorrow will bring. Should the child of God ever be so worried about what tomorrow will bring?

We will say that it is completely normal to be anxious and worried about tomorrow, but it’s not something we should be doing. In fact, having such worry and anxiety is unhealthy for the bones and certainly for our soul. Was God not in control of yesterday? Is God not in control of today and will be in control tomorrow? Don’t you have faith in I AM?

As Daniel pointed out to Nebuchadnezzar, God changes the times and the seasons. God removes those who believe they have power and raises up those who think they have power. God gives – He is in control. Yes, even though change happens and is inevitable, we must understand that everything that happens in the world today is because God has permitted it! There is nothing that happens today that God is not aware of – He is omniscient – all-knowing!

In the midst of change, good and bad, we should do our very best to remember that God is in control. Assurance to the soul is knowing that God is in control and that His thoughts towards you today are still of peace, a future and a hope.
