Food For Thought

31 He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy

Proverbs 14:31 NKJV

Simply put: it is not good for one to make lightly of how they treat those who are in need. In fact, to hinder, to hurt, and to oppress those who are in need is a sin. Surely we, the children of God, care about standing against God, right?

I have to ask that question because it just doesn’t seem like many of us, who have proclaimed to be a child of God, move in fear of His power and authority. You know, when I acted up in school or daycare, I was terrified of my parents finding out. The last thing I ever wanted to face when I acted was the anger of my mom and my dad! Shouldn’t we who are supposed to be a child of God be terrified of what God will do when we act up?

So, it honestly puzzles me to see how some who have professed faith think of those who are in need. It honestly baffles me to see how some who have professed faith treat those who are in need. We should care for all people, especially those who are in need of a helping hand. In whatever manner the Lord has blessed you to be able to do so, whether it’s financially, or sharing a word, or prayer, you should help those who are hurting.

So, let’s be careful with our thoughts and our actions towards whoever is in need. Again, in this day that we live in, we must do everything we can to guard our hearts from the temptation of evil. When we are able to help those who are in need, we are doing some that helps to uplift our soul, and the soul of another. This is certainly needed in today’s climate.
