The Foolish Will Have Their Day

Reverend Leo H. McCrary II

You would do well to remember that the days of the wicked fool are numbered and God will judge.

Today’s devotional reading: Proverbs 1:20-33

God has warned, He has promised, and the Lord will deliver. One should never take lightly the Day of the Lord. Throughout His ministry, Christ preached repentance, saying that the kingdom of heaven is at hand, which is to say that it is close and near.

When Jesus preached that message, it was preached so that man would make corrections in fear of standing before the Lord. Yet, there are two different responses to that preaching from two different kinds of people. One will fear God’s judgment and move to make corrections. Such a one, Jesus likened to being someone who was wise and built their house upon a rock, and it was able to endure a mighty storm (Matt. 7:24-25).

However, there are those who disregard the message of repentance, as they have no fear of God’s judgment. Jesus likened such a one to being unwise and built their house on a weak foundation. When that same mighty storm came, it toppled the house because it was built on a weak foundation (Matt. 7:26-27).

Today, the unwise fools are having the time of their lives, as they live in disregard of the message of repentance, God’s mercy, and God’s judgment. May I say to you today that God’s judgment is not a plaything? God’s judgment requires serious correction! We must not be as complacent fools because as the proverb says, “The complacency of fools will destroy them.”
