The God Who Restores and Makes New

God is a God who desires to do nothing but give life to all who comes to Him. Do you desire to live?

Today’s devotional reading: Ezekiel 36:22-38

God is in the business of restoration and making new. It is said in Isaiah 64:6 that we are all like an unclean thing, filthy rags in our self-righteousness. Many of us don’t recognize our filthiness because our self-righteousness blinds us to the divine truth. The divine truth: Christ called for all of mankind to repent because the Lord’s judgment is near, and we ought not want to stand before God a filthy mess. Do you think God will allow us to be a filthy mess and enter His house?

Children, like me as a child, had to get as much dirt off us as we could before we went through our parents’ house. God is the same way about letting us come into His house!

Jesus told Nicodemus that one must be born of water and Spirit to enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5). Jesus told Peter that he must be washed to have part with Him (John 13:8). You see, the Lord has to wash all of us clean of our sins so that we can dwell with Him in His kingdom. God does not and will never have part in sin, as sin is enmity to Him.

To correct our sin problem, God gave His only begotten Son, who shed blood for our sins. By His shed blood, we are sanctified in our souls, as our tarnished souls are made brand new. Again, God is in the business of restoring all of our souls, making them new, because He desires to dwell with us for everlasting life.

Never let anyone put in your heart that God is a God who destroys, as that is what sin does – sin destroys. On the other hand, God is a God who gives life continually, and will do so for everlasting life.
