Food For Thought

42 Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” 43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

Luke 18:42-43 NKJV

I recall when I was growing up the great significance of the laying on of hands. They laying of hands is seen as passing on a blessing to others. Many would come to Jesus to try and get Him to lay His hands on them to be healed and blessed. There are many that go to church for the pastor to lay their hands on them in prayer.

Is there power in the healing touch? Can the laying of hands make you well? There are several occasions in scripture of Jesus healing the afflicted. Occasions like the healing of this blind man shows that it wasn’t Jesus’ touching that healed. The blind man was healed because He confessed that he came to Christ to receive His sight. So, to be clear, it was his faith in Christ that made him well.

This is the picture of how Jesus makes us well. In all of our afflictions whether they are physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, we must go to Christ! You and I must have faith that isn’t afraid to cry out for the Lord. When we cry out for the Lord in our afflictions, He hears our cries! When we cry out for the Lord, He moves immediately to tend to our needs.
