The Red Flags of the Wicked and Evil | Prov. 6:16-19
September 20, 2024
16 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue,
Proverbs 6:16-19 NKJV
hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.
What does God desire out of mankind? For us to be fruitful and to multiply. How can we do that? We certainly cannot do that from a place of selfish ambition, can we? The only way for me to prosper is for you to prosper and the only way for you to prosper is for me to prosper. We can only prosper if all of us come together and work together in unity just as God has always desired.
Guess what we’re missing today? Unity. Because of a lack of unity, there is no true prosperity today. The red flags are there for what is holding us back. As the proverb points out, the heart of pride from which pours out lies and bring harm to the innocent is holding us back from prosperity. The heart that devises wicked plans and is swift to turn to evil is holding us back. The heart of a false witness that speaks lies just to sow discord and division keeps us from prospering!
Such hearts truly are wicked and act contrary to God’s word and His desire. Paul wrote that such hearts should be avoided, might I add, at all costs! Why? Because they are out for selfish gain with only a desire for their success. If such red flags are in you, understand that you are hurting yourself and those around you.
The one thing scripture does not do is hide from us is the kind of heart that pleases and does not please the Lord. God loves the heart filled with His grace and love and will bless it. However, the heart of the wicked goes unrewarded and those that are of such should never expect to receive such a reward from the Lord.
