The Serenity of a Unburdened Mind | 2 Cor. 1:12
April 28, 2025
12 For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.
2 Corinthians 1:12 NKJV
There are levels of faith and there are levels of living that I believe we should be striving to reach. I believe the highest level of living is that of the unburdened mind. You see, the unburdened mind is free from fear, worry, anxiety, and stress. The unburdened mind is free from the weight of sin; it lives in serenity. Our goal should be to live in serenity, even when life, temptation, and the wicked may try us.
How do we reach this level? We can reach such a level of living by beginning with how we conduct ourselves. If you listen to me preach or have read over many of my teachings, then you know how often I speak about the Christian’s conduct. Paul tells us that how he conducted himself would be something that weighed on his conscience. When we mistreat others, doing wrong by them, that is something that weighs on the soul.
Why does that weigh on our soul? Because the first and second command giving to us by God is all about living in the same manner of grace that’s been shown to us. If we cannot keep the first and second commandment of Christ, how can we say that we follow Him? How can we say we’re a child of God? To be free of such guilt, Paul spoke of how his group conducted themselves in simplicity and godly sincereity.
Truly, life would be so much better for us if we choose to keep the most basic of Christ’s instructions. When you choose to treat others with love, what could possibly weigh you down in your heart? This is a good place for us to begin to find serenity in our living.
