Food For Thought

17 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you. 18 “You defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your trading; Therefore I brought fire from your midst; It devoured you, and I turned you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all who saw you.

Ezekiel 28:17-18 NKJV

These words were directed to Satan from the Lord. I share them with you today because there is an ugliness that is spreading in the world today. What is that ugliness? Self-righteousness. There are many people today who are pious in a conceited, egotistical manner. They believe themselves to be of righteous faith but they lack the love of God to be of God’s righteousness.

You see, God is compassionate; He is love. In His compassion, the Lord is understanding. The Lord is patient with us as He bears with us in our wrongdoing. When we fail, the Lord desires for us to come to Him so that He can lift us up. Sadly, the pious behavior of many so-called believers has gone the route of the father of arrogant self-righteousness.Satan’s arrogance caused him to believe he was better than God and then he was struck down.

Self-righteousness is a nasty and destructive demon! Satan defiled and corrupted himself and that same self-righteousness is destroying many today. Just look at how many refuse to simply listen to reason. Look at how many are so willing to get behind and follow wicked self-righteous people to destruction. That can’t be me! We must find our heart today and the only way today is through the love and compassion of the Lord.
