22 “For My people are foolish, They have not known Me. They are silly children, And they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, But to do good they have no knowledge.”
Jeremiah 4:22 NKJV
God shared His thoughts on mankind’s great struggle with right and wrong well before you and I were in this world; its a thought we need to hear. The Lord plainly said that the Israelites were being foolish, and behaving as silly children that had no understanding. They were wise to do evil but had no idea how to do good because they did not know Him. The Israelites lacked fellowship with the Lord and because they lacked fellowship with Him, they suffered in their soul.
Many of us are suffering greatly in our soul today because we do not have an intimate relationship with the Lord. So, because we aren’t in fellowship with Him, it is likely we are conducting ourselves in a way that would call silly. Foolishness, the Lord makes very clear is a path that leads to destruction. Repeatedly, He calls for us to stop behaving ignorantly and pay to attention to the great harm we bring our soul.
Some would say that right and wrong, good and evil is subjective based on one’s culture, beliefs, and opinions. There are some that would actually suggest that right and wrong, good and evil does not exist; just people behaving according to nature. No matter how mankind tries to define, or not define, right and wrong, the Lord makes it clear that right and wrong, good and evil is not subjective, but is absolute in His eyes. If only we could adhere to His word, see what is good, and do what is just; that is, we should come together and love each other. You see, there’s nothing silly about love but everything wrong with bitter hatred.
