This Is an Abomination to God | Luke 16:14-15

Read This Passage: Luke 16:14-18

14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him. 15 And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

Luke 16:14-15 NKJV

There are many thoughts and actions taken in the world today that we think so lightly of that actually stands as an abomination to the Lord. For example, the we waste away the love we could share with others for submission to lusts and temporary passions. Jesus had just finished teaching the disciples not to become a servant of wealth and riches but to serve the Lord. The Pharisees, the religious leaders, people who should have been servants of God, had overheard what Jesus said and they mocked His statement!

You see, they mocked Jesus because their love was more for the money than the Lord! In other words, their hearts were more set for money than it was for the Lord and, again, they were the religious leaders. What is it that lies within your heart? As sincere believers, God should be first in our lives; we should love Him more than anything else in our heart! I want you to understand, there is no fooling God as He will easily see what lies within your heart.

I encourage you, do not value the things of this world over the Lord! The world, physically, is truly a beautiful place with some truly good people in it, but the spiritual condition of this world, overall, is a total mess; it is an abomination in the sight of God! Because one may value something of the world doesn’t mean that you should find value in it. Value the Lord and His riches! The riches of God are the true treasures you should seek and desire.
