Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Proverbs 9:8-9 NKJV

Seek wisdom, seek wisdom, I repeat, seek wisdom! If there is anything that you do this year, grow more in your understanding. Don’t ever think for one second that you know everything because nobody knows everything. Those that actually believe they know everything are walking in the way of a fool and not in the way of who truly is wise.

Throughout the book of Proverbs, Solomon repeatedly encouraged for one to seek wisdom; the wisdom that he encouraged others to seek was the understanding of God. Of course, there are many people who believe they know all that they need to know as they refuse to turn to God or acknowledge Him in the way in which they go. If they do acknowledge Him, they do so to scoff at the idea of ever heeding the word of God. Ironically, they believe themselves to be wise even though they scoff at God’s rebuke – His correction.

Those who are truly wise are going to certainly be open to the divine truth; we should always thirst and hunger to learn and keep on growing. As the proverb says to us today, give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; he’s not going to argue, disregard, and ignore – he’s going to heed wise counsel. Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning because, once again, the just is humble enough to admit they are always in need of teaching. So, I encourage you today, don’t lose the hunger for learning.
