Walking With God in Daily Commitment – Ex. 33:1-6
Reverend Leo H. McCrary II
To walk with God, we must truly be committed in our hearts.

Today’s devotional reading: Exodus 33:1-6
The children of Israel struggled with walking with God. The struggle for many of them lied within the commitment of their heart. You see, some of them had become servants of the gods of Egypt, which is what led them to want Aaron to build a calf of gold. Even after the sin of worshiping the calf of gold, some of them would still wear the ornaments of their idol worship. The ornaments stood as both a symbol of their commitment and their sinful hearts.
When the Lord directed Moses to leave Mount Sinai and journey to the Promised Land, He instructed Moses to have the people remove their ornaments. If they were going to inherit God’s promise, they were going to have to commit themselves, completely, to follow God. Sadly, even though they would remove their ornaments, this generation of Israel never entered the Promised Land because their hearts were committed to sin and not to God.
The price of walking with Jesus is made clear in both Matthew 8:18-22 and Luke 9:57-62. To walk with Jesus, He taught that one must be fully committed, understanding that God comes first. The Lord desires for one to love Him wholeheartedly, not half-heartedly. God desires complete obedience, not for one to obey Him when and how they desire.
When you don’t give God your total obedience, you only hinder yourself. God is going to always be faithful and lead you, but will you faithfully obey His voice. Faithfulness is not a problem with God, it is our problem. A lack of faith is what hinders your blessings, not God purposely choosing not to bless you. So, we must commit ourselves daily to walk faithfully in total obedience of God’s voice.
