Food For Thought

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

Proverbs 3:5-7 NKJV

On my mom’s birthday, I want to share with all of you her favorite scripture.  This proverb is one that all people should keep in mind.  Who are we to think that our understanding is better than God’s understanding?  Who are we to think that our ways are better than the Lord’s?  If you really take a moment to think about what that means, you will realize just how foolish it is to ever think that way.

Yet, that doesn’t stop many of us from going down the same path that Satan went down himself.  Satan really thought that his understanding of God’s creation was more vast.  How can one’s knowledge be greater than the one who made them?  Satan, like all other things, was formed and made by the Lord.  Can the clay really turn to the potter and ask him what he’s doing (Is. 45:9)?

Woe to those that strive against their Maker!  We must get ourselves on the same page as the Lord and then remain on that page with Him.  What this means is that we must learn to trust in His will.  God’s will – (His way and thoughts) are higher than ours and they are not evil towards us.  God desires to bless you but you can’t receive that blessing if you’re wise in your own eyes.

So, on my mom’s birthday, I encourage you to humble yourself and trust in the Lord’s way.  WE are not wiser than the one who fashioned and made us.
