Food For Thought

15 Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not plunder his resting place; 16 For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

Proverbs 24:15-16 NKJV

I want to point out to you, right away, that the two verses of this proverb stand as a warning to the wicked man.  You see, there’s one thing that is guaranteed to be on the mind of the wicked.  What is that?  To gain and to increase.  The wicked desires to be blessed but their idea of being blessed us is through selfish gain where only they prosper.

So, the proverb warns the wicked about plotting against, scheming against, and trying to plunder from the dwelling place of the righteous.   We live in a time where the greedy seeks to gain more and more while leaving the rest with nothing.  The world has seen its fair share of oppressors, and those that like to cause hardships.  As worrying as the day may be for some of us, I tell you that we are going to get back up and we are going to go again.

Paul said that we are hard pressed on every side but not destroyed.  Here, the proverb tells us that we may fall seven times but we’ll keep on getting back up while calamity awaits the wicked.  Do you know why it is that we’ll continue to get up and go again?  It’s because of God’s righteous right hand.

Trials and tribulations will come, but they’ll end having the same conclusions as those other trials and tribulations long behind you.  So, we get up and we go again!  I want you to look ahead knowing that God’s got you in the palm of His hand. His hand is your dwelling place and nothing can harm you in there (John 10:27-29)!
