What Are You Leaving With Others | John 14:27
August 9, 2024
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27 NKJV
At the end of His ministry, Jesus could say to His disciples that He was leaving peace with them. In fact, Jesus said that He was giving to them His peace. What is that we give and leave with those we interact with?
This is something I have thought about a lot lately. There are multiple reasons why I have thought about this lately with the first being personal. I certainly believe I can always do better when it comes to interacting with others. Another reason is that there is so much vitriol in our society. Yes, anger and hate has always been here but the vileness of it is at ridiculous levels. The levels of cruelty causes others to become cruel and it just shouldn’t be that way.
Your spirit can and will affect the spirit of others. This is why we are often to love our neighbor because your love can uplift others. We must do a better job of moving with hope to leave hope with those who may be without hope. We must do a better job of moving with joy and love to leave joy and love with those who may be without.
As the proverb says, “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance (expression) of his friend (Prov. 27:17).”
