What Do You Hunger For? | Matthew 5:6

Read This Passage: Matthew 5:1-11

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

Matthew 18:3-4 NKJV

What is that you desire out of life? I remember being in nursery school and the teachers would always ask what we wanted to be when we grew up. I think we were asked that question growing up well into middle and high school. In preschool, we wanted to be the president or an astronaut. When we got into middle school, we simply wanted to be famous whether that was as an athlete, musician, or some other celebrity. By the time we got to high school, we decided that by whatever means we enjoyed, we just wanted to be rich – have a bunch of money.

Has your thought pattern changed now that you have grown up? What is that you hunger and desire for out of life? Personally, I want to be happy and content in my soul; I want that for others as well. Do you desire that same thing? I imagine that you do, or at least that what I have heard a lot of people say over the years. The interesting thing, however, is how we all choose to go about finding that happiness and contentment in our soul.

Some choose the route of the world as they grind and hustle for the riches of this world only to find that they are miserable in their soul as those riches are hard to gain. Then those that do gain those riches only manage to find temporary happiness rather than contentment. May I suggest turning to the Lord to let Him feed your hunger and thirst for contentment? I and several others have found that contentment and many rest in that contentment today. God will satisfy your hunger and as He said, His yoke is easy, and His burden is nowhere near as heavy as the world.
