What Do Your Values Say About You? | Prov. 11:3,5
May 22, 2024
3 The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. 5 The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way aright, but the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.
Proverbs 11:3,5 NKJV
I don’t know about you, but I am someone that is fascinated by what principles and values people live by. The hope is that all of us are making the best possible choices we can make to live a happy life. Now, do we always make the right choice? No! The reason why we don’t always make the right choice is because we are imperfect creatures- we have our flaws.
Sadly, some of us struggle with our flaw and demons and we end up spiraling out of control in poor choices. This spiral can turn into a death spiral that can cause us not to value ourselves or others. We certainly don’t want to be in a death spiral, do we? The proverb speaks about the upright being guided by integrity. What is this integrity that can keep us upright even in failure?
The integrity of righteousness. Righteousness comes from following God’s instructions. You and I, while we are in this world, will never be perfect. So, this is why God gives us instructions to live by and promises to show us mercy even in errors. If you live by keeping God’s principles of righteousness, the proverb says your way will be aright. However, the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.
