When They Want You to Be In Fear | 1 Samuel 17:32-33

Read This Passage: 1 Sam. 17:20-51

32 Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” 33 And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”

1 Samuel 17:32-33 NKJV

In this chapter of 1 Samuel, we will see that David’s courage to take on Goliath was driven by his faith in the Lord. You see, when you have faith in the Lord as David had, then you believe that God can truly do anything – that includes defeating the giant champion of the Philistines.

Too often, many of us look at the challenges that we face with the same kind of fear that Israel’s army, which included David’s brothers, had when it came to accepting Goliath’s challenge. Goliath had been speaking ill of the Israel and the Lord and the men in Israel’s army was too afraid to do anything about. When David arrived on the scene and heard what Goliath was saying against Israel, and especially against the Lord, it ignited a flame that those around David had not seen. David said he’d accept Goliath’s challenge which we know he went on to defeat Goliath because of his faith in the Lord.

When others want you to be afraid to take on your challenges, or to just be afraid, I say to you to have faith. If you truly are a child of God, I would tell you not to ever be driven by the fear that others have – let them be afraid! I encourage you to be steadfast in your faith, lean on the Lord, and in doing this, God will raise you up to let you stand as champion over your challenges.
